Scottish Widows enhances life and critical illness policies

An announcement in the Life Insurance industry reports that Scottish Widows has increased the offering which they provide for their critical illness, life and income protection products. The company has now introduced ‘The Best Doctor’ service, which offers an independent list of top medical experts, throughout the UK.
The service rates medical specialists in terms of how they are graded by their peers, for being the best doctors available across the UK. The new service has been introduced in order to enable customers and their families to benefit from enhanced medical services for Life and Critical Illness cover, by offering them outstanding medical opinions at no extra cost to the customer.
Each patient will be allocated a dedicated manager who has medical qualifications, in order that the case manager can collate relevant information about the patient, and send it off to their chosen expert in the field. The medical specialist will then evaluate the patient’s notes and provide a comprehensive report which covers all the options for the patient’s diagnosis and treatment. The service will be run wholly independently of Scottish Widows.
A spokesperson for Scottish Widows commented, “Illness can strike an individual at any time, and the effect on families physically, mentally and financially can be enormous, therefore the need for critical illness cover is extremely important. With the addition of the Best Doctors service we want to offer our customers something extra so that not only do they have financial peace of mind, they also have the opportunity to ensure they receive the most accurate diagnosis and are getting the most appropriate treatment. And as the service is completely independent from Scottish Widows they don't have to be making a claim to use it."
