Wednesday, February 22, 2012
Legal & General’s group critical illness cover will now also include cover doe aplastic anaemia, bacterial, meningitis, encephalitis, liver failure and cardiomyopathy. In addition, the survival period has also been reduced from 30 to 14 days for most illnesses.
The insurer will also be increasing the value of support that is available to claimants. Their maximum benefit can now be up to five times scheme earnings or £500,000 whichever is less.
Vanessa Sallows at Legal & General says, "Employers and employees rely on critical illness cover to help them to cope with challenging circumstances. Expanding the range of illnesses means we can help more people when they are ill."
