Call for More Education in the Life Insurance Industry
Tuesday, March 16, 2010
It is a common belief in the life insurance market that there is a great deal of misunderstanding and a lack of education about what life insurance is and why it is so important. It is a worry when you consider that a large proportion of people do not even realise that life insurance is vital if they have dependents. The result of this lack of awareness has led to over 30 per cent of UK homes without life insurance cover.
The one situation that nobody wants to see is the one when an individual or a family realises how extremely critical life insurance is when it is too late for them to act. It is not a glamorous purchase and can often be quite an emotive subject to research as it forces the family to think about death or terminal illness. To not take this type of insurance seriously, however, can have truly frightening results.
The more and people are educated about life insurance, the better it is for everyone concerned. The individual will know that their family has total financial protection, which gives peace-of-mind and income protection. In addition, the more people who arm themselves with the information needed to research life insurance policies, the more they will sign up for plans. This will then encourage insurance providers to continue upping their game to offer even more competitive and comprehensive policies. In fact, everyone in the industry is set to gain – surely the best outcome!
