Insurance giants Prudential are planning to resurrect the man from Pru, the life insurance adviser who collected premiums door to door.

However, his 21st century incarnation will be very different. According to a report in trade newspaper Financial Adviser, the Pru’s advisory department, Prudential Financial Planning, has been piloting the return of the man from Pru for already existing customers.

Claims for critical illness hit the roof

Complaints regarding critical illness cover have risen substantially in the past year, according to new figures.

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has said that it receives 1,570 complaints regarding critical illness cover in the first half of last year, this is up almost 50% from the same period last year and 40% in the second half of 2010, despite an overall decline in sales of critical illness.
